We don't really think about it, but life isn't forever. Any insignificant event can chart the course of your life. These can be for better or worse: a roll of the dice (/roll). Some don't take any chances, they live life without even an attempt at happiness. I myself have had allot of bad rolls. The last thing you want is to be on your death bed (or plane crash, or dismemberment, or being surrounded by zombies) wondering "What if " .
"what if I focused on studying instead of sports?"
"what if I asked out this chick?"
"what if I was less fickle?"
"what if I treasured the little things?"
"what if I was less close-minded?"
Those of us who live in the here and now are fools. Why let fear best you? I's just a natural defense mechanism in an unatural society. Fear both keeps us in check, and restrains freedom. If you asked advice from every dead man under the ground, they would all tell you the same thing: "Carpe Diem". It's the cry of the dead: Regret.
