Hey all. I may put up some photos of my Clay works up some time, so be on the lookout. Right now I'm working on a human arm replication (strange I know).
The Ceramic process starts with construction. Clay is best to be worked at the stage known as plastic, which is moist and easily manipulated. Then, you select from a wide range of building techniques: I prefer coil stacking. Basically, this entails rolling clay coils and using liquidous, slimy clay known as slip to "glue"the coils on top one another. Then, you smooth and mold the piece to your liking.
Once your piece is dry, it need to be fired in a kiln, or high-temperature oven. Then, the piece must be submerged in water and glazed. Glazing is a process in which coats of a liquid solution is applied to your work to give it texture, color and a glossy finish. After you are done applying glaze to your work, it must be fired again. When it comes out, your creation is complete!

  1. Perhaps you should take a picture of this finished masterpiece and post it on your blog. You do a nice job once you get started on these blogs. You are a passionate person about your views. Keep up the great work and keep up with weekly assignments. Your grade will show it. - Mrs. B.
